6 grey wolf cubs have just revealed their cute snouts on the Domain
21 June 2024
Mother Nature just can't seem to stop showering us with lovely surprises! The Baby Boom continues on the Domain of the Caves of Han with the birth of six grey wolf cubs! On Thursday 13 June, they had their very first health check and were declared the picture of health. First steps, first yelps and groans, first discoveries...The 6 wolf cubs have left their den and are tentatively exploring their living environment.
In 2023, the Park welcomed 3 young wolves (one male and 2 females) with the hope that they would form a new wolf pack. And our prayers were answered: a couple months after their arrival, an alpha couple was formed when the male Ramsès and the female Cléo chose each other as mate and formed the pack's alpha pair. And in the spring, the young alpha couple had its very first litter. A wonderful surprise for the Park's team members who were definitely not expecting births that year because of the couple's young age... And they sure weren't expecting a litter of 6 wolf cubs! These births are a sure sign of the young wolves' perfect health and of the alpha pair's positive acclimation. Ramsès and Cléo are extremely protective of their cubs, which promises many endearing and tender moments for us to enjoy. The birth of the 6 cubs also marks the formation of a new grey wolf pack on the Domain.
The wolf cubs had their very first health check on Thursday June 13. Under the supervision of the Park's head vet and his team, we were able to determine their gender, deworm them and weigh them. And the verdict is in: 4 females and 2 males, each and every one of them blooming with health!
In the last couple of weeks, many other species have been delighted to welcome new members to their tribe: cervids, Highland cows, white storks, aurochs... A wealth of cute new-borns who will enliven everyday life in the Wildlife Park!
