Baby boom in the Wildlife Park: it's starting to look like a giant maternity ward for wild animals!
23 May 2024
During the spring season, Mother Nature is particulary generous: many baby animals have been born in the Wildlife Park!
Come and discover the new borns in the Wildlife Park: arctic wolf pups, grey wolf pups, storklets, auroch calfs, fawns, a Highland calf... An adorable baby boom that has converted the Wildlife Park for a couple of weeks into a giant maternity ward for wild animals!
A bunch of wolf cubs
For the next couple of weeks, you can enjoy an exceptional face to face with our wolves in the Wildlife Park. For quite a few years now, the Park has been home to arctic wolves and grey wolves. And this year we've been blessed with great news: for the very first time, both wolf packs have been blessed with wolf cubs!
A couple of days ago, the arctic wolf pack welcomed their new members: 6 tiny muzzles made their much-awaited appearance! They got their first health check on Tuesday 21 May and the vets identified 5 females and 1 male wolf cub. The cute cube were also weighed and dewormed and the vets were satisfied that all of the 6 cubs were the picture of health! For now, they are taking their first clumsy steps under the watchful eye of Daddy Gery and Mummy Keysa.
As for the grey wolf pack, several balls of fur have been spotted, but for the moment we have not been able to determine their exact number. The animal carers are letting them alone so they can enjoy their first moments with their parents, Daddy Ramsès and Mummy Cléo, and will give them their health check in a couple of days.
And countless other births!
And that's not all... The Wildlife Park is delighted to announce the birth of 4 auroch calfs, 1 Highland calf, several fawns and 5 storklets! And we're expecting quite a few happy events in the days to come.
A number of species, such as the white storks, are part of a breeding programme in which the Domain participates, which makes the news even more joyful. The goal of the programme is to increase the population that is present in the wild in the Famenne area.
